Trauma & Tension Releasing Exercises (TRE)®
I completed my Level I training with TRE® founder, David Berceli in 2012 and my Level II with Dr Melanie Salmon in 2013. I attend regular Supervision meetings with my the TRE® Supervisor, Dr Melanie Salmon and collegues, so we can understand our own processes and discuss new information that may benefit our clients. I am now an Advanced TRE® Provider.
Through working with the body holistically and drawing on my years of work experience, I have found TRE ® to be the most powerful body release without engaging our perpetual mind chatter that seems to dominate our every waking moment. I have experience in working with clients with injuries and trauma from violence.
Tension and Trauma Releasing exercises were originally developed by Dr David Berceli to address the impacts of traumatic experiences on the body. Hurtful experiences, stress, and tension are part of everyone’s life and we often do not realize how these experiences are etched deep in the mind and body. TRE® is a simple technique that uses exercises to release stress or tension from the body that accumulate from every day circumstances of life, from difficult situations, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences (i.e., natural disasters, social or domestic violence, hospitalisations, childbirth).
TRE® Providers are able to safely guide the individual or group through the process, and teach them to continue the process at home, in order to bring about balance and healing within the body mind complex.
Fascia Release Therapy
This therapy has its roots and understanding from Rolfing®, Structural Integration and Tom Meyers – Anatomy Trains. I attended this course in 2013 to further my knowledge of my own body and to connect to areas where I knew I was numb.
Fascia Release Therapy helps identify where the body is locked, blocked and de-sensitised. I work with the client for 90 minutes. Touch and safety is such a crucial part of this process and engages the Nervous system on a very deep and profound level.
Fascia Release Therapy can be a stand alone process or in conjunction with other modalities such as TRE®.
Muscle Activation was designed by a physiotherapist, Douglas Heel. It uses trigger points which activate prominent muscles which enhance the body’s strength, flexibility, endurance and power. The main focus is the psoas and Gluteus Maximus which often shut down due to stresses such as trauma, creating compensation patterns within the various muscle groups. With my knowledge of Chinese medicine, these trigger points have a huge impact on the emotional wellbeing of the body mind. Releasing these points, create a new awareness with the body, emotional and mental imbalances.
